Tour of Guildford

The Guildhall

The Guildhall The façade with projecting clock - symbol of Guildford - was built in 1683 onto the front of an Elizabethan hall, which was extensively restored in 1987.

The hall was used in the 16th century as a court room and in the 17th century as a council chamber.  Guildford Corporation met in the upstairs council chamber until 1931, and the room is still used for  functions  (meetings etc).

The Guildhall is open to the public on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons.
